The Diploma in Manufacturing and Product Design (MPD) has been developed under contract from the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) on behalf of the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) by the Manufacturing Diploma Development Partnership (MDDP).

The MDDP comprises five Sector Skills Councils: Improve Limited, Cogent, Proskills, Semta and Skillfast. The lead body on the MDDP is Improve Limited.
